FGM Pediatrics
Dr. Marc Freed leads FGM Pediatrics with the help of Advanced Practice Nurse Kayla Conrad, FNP and their talented staff. FGM Pediatrics began with the partnership between Dr. Freed, Dr. Gruszka, and Dr. Mukhopadhyay on the Near West Side of Chicago.
With the retirement of the practice's patriarch, and the separation from the University of Chicago management, the remaining associates forged ahead as FGM Pediatrics in 2000. The practice grew to three providers again with the addition of Dr. Ramana. FGM Pediatrics has continued to adapt to the changing needs of healthcare with the retirements of Drs. Gruszka and Ramana and the addition of a Nurse Practitioner, Kayla Conrad.
Dr. Freed is a pediatrician who has been practicing in the Chicago area since 1985. He was one of the founding members of FGM pedicatrics when it first opened in 2000. He is board certified. Kayla is a Nurse Practitioner certified with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She received her bachelor degree in nursing from the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. After graduating, Kayla moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where she attended Holy Names University in Oakland, California for a graduate degree in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner.
Kayla’s passion for nursing began with the mentorship and excellent medical care she received from her local nurse practitioner as a teen in Minnesota. Her care philosophy centers around compassionate listening to the patient and their family, promoting healthy decision-making, and improving patient quality of life with preventive care and education.
Kayla splits her time between building patient relationships here at work and a very active household. She and her husband, Peter, are raising three young children and learn new lessons in parenting every day. Her family is also a foster home for dogs in need until they can be adopted to their forever home.
